A new fire safety video surveillance system is taking shape in the heart of Montpellier’s Grand Parc. Located in an area classified as having a very high fire risk, this project led by Snef Connect (Avignon office), a subsidiary of the Snef Group specializing in the integration of connected solutions dedicated to comprehensive security, supports the City of Montpellier in fire prevention across nearly 170 hectares of sensitive natural environments. Installed on the Bois de Montmaur water tower, the long-range bispectral camera—combining thermal imaging and Full HD—ensures automatic detection of heat sources, smoke, and fire outbreaks, thanks to advanced deep learning algorithms. The video feeds are transmitted in real time to SDIS 34, the CSU, and the Lunaret Zoo teams, enhancing operational coordination and reducing response times. The project also includes a secure radio link, a backup power supply, lightning protection, and provisions for fiber-optic connectivity. A comprehensive maintenance and training program ensures the system is operated effectively by user teams. An initiative that contributes to the safety of the public and staff, while protecting a precious natural heritage. It illustrates the Snef Group’s expertise in integrating innovative solutions to serve local communities. 🌿
